Vitaly Santana Herrera

Poet
My name is tallythepoet, a Dominican poet based out of Atlanta, GA!
Tallythepoet is an AfroLatina poet born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She has always been very artistic from the young age of 13, but her passion for poetry ignited when one of the staff members— Ms. McQueen—from boys and girls club started a “lyricism 101” group in which she got the opportunity to perform on stage for the first time. Since that moment, she has gone to several open mic nights and shared her art with her local metro Atlanta community. She writes about social issues and utilizing her personal experiences and the experiences of those around her to develop poems that bring relatability to the Gen z population. She uses her poetry as an artistic protest of words, but also a battle cry to let go and release. Currently, she’s working on creating visualizers of her poems so she can bring a face to her words. When she isn’t performing, she sometimes dabbles in modeling projects.
