LaMa Ramirez Giraldo

LaMa is a Colombian multidisciplinary artist working in writing, sculpture, and puppetry—touring with 'Lupita’s Revenge' and building for film.

LaMa (Laura Maria) is a Colombian writer, sculptor, and visual artist. She is currently writing a literary novel, building a 3x5 ft realistic bird puppet for a short film, and performing with 'Lupita’s Revenge', an Athens, GA–based puppet troupe that has toured nationally for over eight years. LaMa studied Art History and Sculpture at the University of Georgia, earning a BFA with a focus on 3D construction and fabrication. Her creative practice extends well beyond those foundations, encompassing language (interpretation and translation), ceramics, woodworking, installation art, painting, textile art, dance, and an enduring passion for self-expression in all its forms. “The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” — Albert Camus
